The Daegu District Court's warrant review panel (Chief Judge Chae Jeong-seon) issued the warrant on the 21st during the detention hearing (pre-arrest suspect interrogation), citing concerns over evidence tampering and flight risk.
Director Kim is accused of assaulting athletes along with sports therapist Ahn Joo-hyun (detained), known as the "team doctor" of the Gyeongju City Hall triathlon team. He is also accused of collecting about 2 million KRW per person from athletes as airfare fees during overseas training camps.
The Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency conducted a search and seizure of Director Kim's residence on the 12th, summoned him for questioning on the 16th regarding the allegations, and subsequently applied for the detention warrant.
