On this day, Assemblyman Cheonsu Oh, elected as the chairman of the Special Committee, jointly proposed the "Resolution for the Promotion of the Establishment of Wangsimni Station on the GTX-C Line" along with six fellow council members and presented the proposal.
The argument was that the "Establishment of Wangsimni Station on the GTX-C Line" is a natural choice that should be reflected in the basic project plan as it enhances transportation convenience and efficiency not only for Seongdong residents but also for residents of Seoul and the metropolitan area.
The main points include ▲Wangsimni Station is a sub-center of the northeastern living area where five lines pass through and serves as a hub for metropolitan transportation for movement from the metropolitan area to downtown Seoul ▲Wangsimni Station has 1.6 times more users than Cheongnyangni Station, a stop on the GTX-C Line ▲Passing through Wangsimni Station without stopping undermines the efficiency of the GTX railway network construction project and regional balanced development.
Chairman Oh strongly asserted, "Installing only auxiliary facilities such as ventilation shafts at Wangsimni Station without stopping the GTX-C Line is a one-sided policy that causes inconvenience without any benefits to residents," and emphasized, "It must stop at Wangsimni Station, a major transfer station."
The council members plan to strongly urge the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and related departments to establish Wangsimni Station and continue comprehensive legislative activities through public-private cooperation to establish Wangsimni Station on the GTX-C Line.
The GTX-C Line route was changed to pass underground through Wangsimni Station instead of the originally planned low-rise residential area in Seongsu-dong when the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport released the draft Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment at the end of May. This change has raised dissatisfaction over the absence of a station at Wangsimni Station, the largest transfer hub in the Gangbuk area.
In response, Seongdong District formed a TF team for the establishment of Wangsimni Station and conducted a signature campaign through a resident-centered promotion committee, collecting 159,970 signatures, exceeding 50% of Seongdong residents, which were submitted to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Additionally, the district is making comprehensive efforts to attract Wangsimni Station by establishing cooperative systems with local universities and neighboring districts such as Jung-gu and Gwangjin-gu and conducting feasibility studies.

Won-oh Jung, Mayor of Seongdong District, said, "The desire to attract Wangsimni Station is growing not only among Seongdong residents but also among residents of surrounding nearby areas and the metropolitan area," and added, "We will continue to actively convey the necessity and feasibility of establishing Wangsimni Station to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport so that many citizens can enjoy rightful transportation benefits."
