The city plans to actively support key national projects based on renewable energy, including the government's standard gas turbine development, offshore wind power generation plans, and hydrogen economy roadmap, such as national gas turbine development, wind turbine nacelle testbed construction, and hydrogen liquefaction plant construction.
Regarding gas turbines, in February this year, the government launched a public-private joint "Standard Gas Combined Development Commercialization Promotion Team" to actively promote the development and commercialization of standard gas turbines.
There are 65 companies participating in power generation gas turbines, accounting for 27% of the 238 companies nationwide. When 20 domestic gas turbines are distributed in the future, Doosan Heavy Industries' maximum sales are expected to reach 1.2 trillion KRW, and cooperating companies in the Changwon area are expected to generate an economic effect worth up to 300 billion KRW.
For wind power generation nacelles, the city and province have been promoting the wind turbine nacelle testbed construction project since 2020 to improve the performance and reliability of nacelles and components.
There are 13 companies in Changwon participating in the development of domestic wind power generation systems, accounting for 10% of the 125 companies nationwide, and local companies are expected to create an economic effect worth up to 150 billion KRW.
Regarding the hydrogen liquefaction plant, since the city was selected as the lead agency for the industrial complex environmental improvement fund project, it is being promoted as the first in the nation with plans to build at least one hydrogen liquefaction plant by 2022.
