Iksan City Delivers 'Love Cart' to Elderly Paper Collectors
Delivery of 10 Lightweight and Safe Customized Rear Carts
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jaehee] Iksan City, Jeonbuk, produced and delivered lightweight and safe customized love carts for elderly people collecting waste paper who are struggling with their livelihoods due to COVID-19.
On the 21st, the city held a customized love cart (10 units) delivery ceremony at Iksan Arts Center, inviting the elderly, with about 30 people including Mayor Jeong Heon-yul, Um Yang-seop, chairman of the Volunteer Center, public officials, and volunteers in attendance.
This cart support was prepared as a livelihood measure for elderly people who are more vulnerable to COVID-19 through collaboration between the city and the Volunteer Center, aiming to create a community where people live together.
The love cart was made very light, about one-third the weight of a regular steel cart, and equipped with brakes and a horn bell to ensure the walking safety of the elderly.
Additionally, it was equipped with reflectors, reflective tape, a number key wire lock, elastic ropes, and storage boxes to protect the elderly’s livelihood activities.
Along with this, summer and winter safety vests and dental masks were also provided to strengthen the safety of the elderly.
