KAI to Exclusively Supply B787 Wing Structures Until Discontinuation
Estimated Sales Scale of Approximately 900 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) announced on the 21st that it has signed a contract to additionally supply major components of the Boeing B787 wing structure to Japan's Subaru Corporation.
Since starting this project in 2005, KAI has delivered over 1,000 units by the end of last year. With this contract, KAI will extend the supply contract from 2022 until the aircraft is discontinued. The expected sales scale until 2038 is approximately 900 billion KRW.
The B787 is a mid-sized aircraft that incorporates a large amount of composite materials, improving fuel efficiency, and is one of the best-selling models. KAI added that through this contract, about 20 partner companies will also secure supply volumes.

A KAI official stated, "We signed the contract by being recognized for the partnership with customers built since 2005 as well as our technological and quality competitiveness," and emphasized, "We will do our best to satisfy customers through perfect quality control."
