[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Women are becoming the dominant promoters in the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul.
In line with the increasing number of female public officials, the number of women among the public officials in charge of publicity working on the front lines of district administration promotion is gradually rising.
As of July 1 personnel changes in the 25 Seoul districts, five heads of publicity departments are women. This appears to be the highest number ever.
There are also nine female heads of media teams. Female reporting officers overwhelmingly outnumber their male counterparts.
The heads of publicity departments are Hwang Young-mi of Dobong-gu, Nam Seon-ok of Mapo-gu, So Mi-kyung of Dongjak-gu, Yoon Kyung-won of Seocho-gu, and Yoon Hee-eun of Gangdong-gu.

Yoon Kyung-won of Seocho-gu was appointed through an external expert recruitment process.
Additionally, the media team leaders include Lee Jin-young of Seongdong-gu, Park Bong-sook of Jungnang-gu, Seo Ja-kyung of Seongbuk-gu, Kim Dong-jin of Dobong-gu, Im Eun-kyung of Eunpyeong-gu, Na Jin-ah of Seodaemun-gu, Sung Hee-sook of Dongjak-gu, Jeong Kyung-joo of Gwanak-gu, and Kim Eun-joo of Gangnam-gu, totaling nine women.

They include Shim Ah-young and Lee Hye-in of Jongno, Kim Eun-ji and Park Hye-jung of Jung-gu, Im Ji-eun of Yongsan, Jung Mi-rang and Kim Eun-ae of Seongdong, Ahn Jung-won and Song Min-joo of Gwangjin, Song Min-seon and Hyun Jin-seon of Dongdaemun, Oh Seung-mi, Jung Soo-hyun, and Jeon Ye-eun of Jungnang, Park Soo-jin of Seongbuk, Jo Eun-young of Gangbuk, Baek Ji-hye of Dobong, Jo Yoon-hee of Nowon, Kim Yu-mi and Park Hyo-eun of Mapo, Cheon Se-hee and Hwang Ji-seon of Yangcheon, Lee Sun-young and Jin Soo-hyun of Guro, Park Mi-seon and Yoo Min-hee of Yeongdeungpo, Mok Jin-kyung, Kim Kyung-mi, and Nam Seo-hyun of Seocho, Hong Ju-young and Kwon Min-jung of Gangnam, and Jeon Jeong-eun, Lee Yu-mi, Kim Hye-ryeong, and Jang Han-saem of Gangdong.
The increase in female publicity officers is attributed not only to the growing number of female public officials but also to district heads' judgment that women's delicacy is suitable for publicity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
