New York Stock Market Ends Mixed... Dow and S&P 500 Up Weekly, Nasdaq Down
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The major indices of the New York stock market closed the week mixed without any significant positive or negative factors affecting the market.
On the 17th (local time), the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 62.76 points (0.23%) to 26,671.95, the S&P 500 rose 9.16 points (0.28%) to 3,224.73, and the Nasdaq rose 29.36 points (0.28%) to close at 10,503.19.
The weekly gains were 2.29% for the Dow, 1.25% for the S&P 500, but the Nasdaq was down -1.08%.
The preliminary University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index for July was announced at 73.2, down from the previous month's final figure of 78.1. This raises concerns about a potential decline in future consumer indicators.

August delivery West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil fell 0.4% ($0.16) to $40.59 per barrel, and August delivery gold closed up 0.5% ($9.70) at $1,810 per ounce.
