Kim Du-kwan's Proposal to "Remove Beds" Met with Jin Joong-kwon's Response: "Restrict Beds First"
"Why So Extreme?" Sarcastic
Kim Du-kwan Urges 'Drastic Measures'
"Not a Problem Solved by Gender Sensitivity Training"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Juhyung] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon criticized Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Doo-kwan, who urged the installation of transparent glass and the removal of beds in local government heads' offices, saying, "Why be so extreme?"
On the 16th, Jin posted on his Facebook, "If beds are the problem, instead of removing them, conduct gender equality education targeting the beds first," he said.
He continued, "For beds that still cause trouble, immediately exclude them from duty and request an investigation from the prosecution," adding sarcastically, "First, before the city hall office bed runs away, request an arrest warrant to secure custody."
This statement by Jin is interpreted as suggesting that sexual crimes can be prevented through education on sexual sensitivity for high-ranking officials. It points out that simply removing beds or installing transparent glass in offices cannot prevent sexual violence.
Earlier, lawmaker Kim posted on his Facebook, "We must prepare drastic measures to block inappropriate behavior by party-affiliated heads and set examples," and argued, "This is not a problem that can be solved by a few sessions of gender sensitivity education."

He added, "I request the removal of beds in the heads' offices and the installation of transparent glass whenever possible," and argued, "Even if closed-circuit television (CCTV) is installed or an independent monitoring organization for heads is established, the very structure that allows such incidents must be eliminated."
