"The Canterville Ghost" is based on the novel of the same name by Irish-born playwright Oscar Wilde. The story begins with an American family appearing at a British mansion known as the ghost house. The children of this family, representing the New World and the new generation, confront the ghost, while the adults seek rational communication with it. The showdown with the ghost symbolizes the clash of different cultures and the process of heterogeneous beings fighting and reconciling to accept each other. The play humorously unfolds this process like an entertainment show that the whole family can enjoy.
