People Party: “President Moon’s Words Are Just a Grand Show... Lacking Will for Cooperation”

In a commentary on the same day, Ahn Hye-jin, spokesperson for the People’s Party, said, “While I deeply sympathize with the President’s words, ‘I hope that the values of inclusion, coexistence, solidarity, and cooperation will begin in the National Assembly and take deep root in our society,’ these remarks felt uncomfortable to hear as they contradict the ruling party’s conduct of monopolizing the standing committee chairmanships through unilateral and dogmatic dominance.”
Spokesperson Ahn pointed out, “Most of the policies the government intends to implement lack innovative elements, and even non-experts can clearly see their limitations. There was no specific or clear policy proposal on where nearly one million jobs over the next two years will come from, what proportion of public jobs versus private sector jobs will be created, or how much funding should be invested by industry to fulfill the ambitious job creation promises. Moreover, there was not even a mention of how to secure the necessary financial resources.”
Ahn criticized, “While emphasizing labor safety, the speech omitted labor market reform, and by avoiding discussions on corporate and industrial restructuring while claiming to foster new industries, it shows a tendency to merely cover festering wounds with cheap, unsterilized bandages.”
She added, “Due to the failure of 22 real estate policies over three years, real estate assets, which account for more than 70% of the nation’s total wealth, have been wildly fluctuating. It is regrettable that the government, which should be preparing a long-term, solid supply-centered real estate policy, is instead focusing solely on cracking down on speculators rather than on policy.”

Ahn stated, “Regarding the Justice Party-related Yoon Mi-hyang scandal, which has caused nationwide outrage, President Moon should not try to gloss over or cover up the corruption of the group but must thoroughly order a swift investigation into the truth of the sexual misconduct allegations surrounding the late former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon over several years. I hope the President opens his eyes and ears not to the ruling party but to the people and stands firmly on the side of justice that the people earnestly desire.”
