United Future Party's Kang Ki-yoon Warns "Domestic Technology Leakage if Doosan Motrol Sold to China"
This Bid Scheduled for 20 Days... Participation from Chinese Construction Equipment Manufacturer Sugong Group and Others
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] Kang Ki-yoon, a member of the Future United Party (Changwon-si Seongsan-gu), expressed concerns about job losses and the outflow of domestic technology in relation to the rumors of Doosan Motrol's sale to China.
On the 16th, Kang stated in a press release, "Doosan Group, which is preparing a self-rescue plan worth 3 trillion won, is putting its core business unit Doosan Motrol up for sale, and it is expected that Chinese companies will participate in the bidding," adding, "There will be no guarantee of employment succession along with the outflow of domestic proprietary technology."
Doosan Motrol is a hydraulic parts manufacturer for excavators. In 2008, it acquired a 52.9% stake in the former Dongmyeong Motrol and merged it, producing parts used in construction machinery as well as precision hydraulic parts applied to land, sea, and air force weapon systems.
According to Kang, Doosan Group received emergency support of 3.6 trillion won from state-run banks and is accelerating asset sales as part of its self-rescue plan. The bidding is scheduled for the 20th, and it is expected that Xugong Group, China's largest construction equipment manufacturer, along with domestic and foreign private equity funds, will participate.

Kang pointed out, "The hydraulic equipment parts industry is a national key industry and must be protected at the national level," adding, "China depends on Korea for core hydraulic parts for excavators and wants to develop parts, but if Doosan Motrol is acquired by a foreign company, there is a risk of domestic core technology being leaked and employees losing their jobs."
