Jin Joong-kwon to Lee Dong-hyung and Park Ji-hee: "It's infuriating... Don't you understand why the victim couldn't speak out?"
Lee Dong-hyung and Park Ji-hee, Controversy Over Secondary Harm Remarks
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Broadcasters Lee Dong-hyung and announcer Park Ji-hee are causing controversy for making excessive remarks toward the victim who accused the late former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon of sexual harassment. They said things like, "Whenever you say something, it's called secondary victimization," and "I wonder what they were doing for four years and why they are reporting it now." In response, former professor Jin sharply criticized on the 16th, saying, "After seeing what you are doing, do you not know why people couldn't speak out?"
In a post on his Facebook that day, former professor Jin said, "Lawmakers shed tears saying the perpetrator was a 'pure person,' lamenting that he 'lived too morally,' the ruling party leader turned the victim into a 'complainant,' and the city held a grand funeral for the perpetrator," expressing his criticism.
He further pointed out toward Lee Dong-hyung and announcer Park, "The broadcaster and announcer blatantly labeled the victim as a gold digger."
He said, "Prosecutor Seo Ji-hyun couldn't speak out for eight years, and the comfort women grandmothers couldn't speak out for 40 years. When someone bravely files a complaint, they dig into their personal information under the pretext of 'education' and ostracize the victim," adding, "So-called intellectuals dismiss the pain as insignificant compared to the perpetrator's worth, which amounts to 100 trillion," strongly criticizing them.
Finally, he concluded, "The old saying that prolonged exposure to moonlight drives people crazy seems to be true. I want to curse, but I can't even write it here," ending his post.
Earlier, on the previous day (the 15th), Lee Dong-hyung said on his YouTube channel 'Lee Dong-hyung TV' live broadcast regarding the case where former secretary A accused former Mayor Park of sexual harassment, "What kind of Me Too case is this? A Me Too case is when 'I couldn't speak out about something that happened in the past, but now I have the courage to do so,' revealing my identity openly."
He criticized A, saying, "The accused (former Mayor Park) has had his life ruined. He took an extreme step. But she is hiding."
Regarding the secondary victimization the victim is experiencing, he said, "Whenever you say something, it's called secondary victimization, and you can't do anything. I say something strange is strange, so why can't I speak out?"
On the 14th, an announcer's remarks sparked controversy. Park Ji-hee, who hosts a tbs current affairs program, mentioned A on the 202nd episode of the 'Clean Zone Podcast,' saying, "If it's been four years, I am very curious about what exactly she was doing and why she suddenly came out into the world with lawyer Kim Jae-ryeon now."
She added, "She couldn't report it at first," and said, "Because of the position of the Seoul Mayor, she should have reported it from the beginning, but I want to ask why she couldn't report it at that time."
