GS25 Offers Laundry Service in Seoul and Gyeonggi
Partnership with Laundry Special Forces
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Convenience store industry’s lifestyle-oriented services are evolving day by day.
Convenience store GS25 announced on the 16th that it will start laundry services at about 1,900 GS25 stores across all areas of Seoul and some parts of Gyeonggi Province.
The laundry service, launched in early July in collaboration with mobile laundry service company Setak Teukgongdae, allows customers to request laundry via KakaoTalk and drop off their laundry at a nearby GS25 store, then receive it at their doorstep. Laundry requests can be made 24 hours a day, and contactless early morning delivery to the customer’s registered address is available within 48 hours.
The usage method is simple. Customers add Setak Teukgongdae as a friend on KakaoTalk, check GS25 stores available for laundry service through the chatbot, select the delivery address and date, and a barcode is generated in the KakaoTalk chat window. Customers visit GS25 with their laundry, place it in a dedicated laundry collection bag, and register it using the barcode. The next day, a laundry receipt is issued via KakaoTalk, and after confirming the laundry items and prices, payment is made.
Namgung Jin-ah, co-CEO of Setak Teukgongdae, said, “Now, without a minimum order amount restriction, even a single shirt can be easily entrusted at a convenience store near your home,” adding, “Since the Setak Teukgongdae service can be used without downloading an app, we expect to expand our customer base and will accelerate the expansion of partner stores.”
