SK Construction to Establish R&D Platform for Win-Win Cooperation

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] SK Engineering & Construction is creating a platform with its partner company 'Biz Partner' to support research and development (R&D) for small and venture businesses.
On the 15th, SK Engineering & Construction announced on the 16th that it held a signing ceremony for the establishment of the ‘R&D Open Platform’ to support technology development of Biz Partner and small and venture companies at the Gwanhoon Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
About 30 officials attended the ceremony, including Lim Young-moon, President of SK Engineering & Construction; Shim Dong-wook, CEO of POSCO Technology Investment; Yang Sung-kwang, Chairman of the Research and Development Special Zone Promotion Foundation; Choi Dong-wook, Vice President of Shinhan Bank; Kim Ki-soo, Vice President of Hongik University; and Hwang Kyu-jin, Vice President of Technology and Value.
The R&D Open Platform is an open platform designed to comprehensively support everything from idea discovery to technology commercialization, going beyond the existing system that focused mainly on technology development. The platform will operate in four main stages: ▲Idea Discovery ▲Technology Development ▲Test Bed ▲Commercialization.
SK Engineering & Construction plans to operate the platform in cooperation with private and public institutions such as POSCO Technology Investment, the Research and Development Special Zone Promotion Foundation, Shinhan Bank, Hongik University, and Technology and Value. In this process, SK Engineering & Construction will support the application of developed technologies at construction sites to conduct test beds. The Research and Development Special Zone Promotion Foundation will connect technologies being researched in public and private sectors with the technologies needed by companies. Hongik University will provide support by utilizing the university’s R&D infrastructure. POSCO Technology Investment will review technology investments, and Technology and Value will provide consulting for commercialization. Shinhan Bank will offer financial and consulting services.
Following the signing ceremony, a ‘Win-Win Platform Workshop’ was also held with Biz Partner to promote mutual growth management. During the workshop, Biz Partner shared directions regarding space infrastructure, technology cooperation, procurement, safety, and quality, and discussions were held for the progress of practical tasks.
