Seodaemun-gu Installs Air Conditioners in Housing-Vulnerable Elderly Living Alone Households
Seodaemun-gu Social Welfare Council Air Conditioner Electricity Bill Support from July to September
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) will provide free air conditioners to 40 low-income elderly living alone households in preparation for the full-scale heatwave in summer.
The district is promoting this project for elderly people with vulnerable living environments and mobility difficulties, as the operation of cooling shelters such as senior centers has been reduced due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The target households were selected by each neighborhood community center, which best understands the living conditions of the elderly, and the Seodaemun Senior Welfare Center and Hyolim Home Care Support Center, which operate the customized elderly care service.
In addition, the Seodaemun-gu Social Welfare Council decided to support electricity bills of 30,000 KRW per household per month for three months from this month to September for the elderly households receiving the air conditioners.
On-site inspections and installations will be completed by the 24th of this month, and staff from the neighborhood community centers and customized elderly care service agencies will guide the elderly on how to operate the air conditioners.
