[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] The continuous monsoon rain is expected to gradually subside by late afternoon.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 13th, as of 9 a.m., the rainfall at major locations was recorded as follows: Jirisan 236.0mm, Jeolla Buan 228.0mm, Jeonju 153.9mm, Daejeon 145.1mm, Gwangju 143.6mm, Sejong 140.0mm, Busan 96.3mm, and Seoul 19.4mm. Heavy rain of around 30mm per hour fell mainly in Chungcheong Province and the southern regions, with more than 150mm of very heavy rain over two days. Some areas in Chungnam, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, and Gyeongnam were under heavy rain warnings, while Busan, Daegu, Ulsan, Gwangju, and Daejeon had heavy rain advisories issued the previous day. A heavy rain warning is issued when rainfall is expected to exceed 90mm in 3 hours or 180mm in 12 hours, and a heavy rain advisory is issued when rainfall is expected to exceed 60mm in 3 hours or 110mm in 12 hours.
Until the morning of the day, strong rain accompanied by gusts and thunder/lightning is occurring in the southern regions, Jeju, and until noon near the southern coast of Gyeongnam and around Jirisan, with strong winds mainly along the coast. The maximum instantaneous wind speeds at major points were recorded as Muju (Deogyu Peak) 92 km/h, Tongyeong (Maemuldo) 81 km/h, and Gwangju (Mudeungsan) 78 km/h.
This monsoon rain is expected to mostly stop around 9 a.m. tomorrow (the 14th), starting from the southern coast of Namhae at dawn. However, rain will continue until noon in southern Chungcheong, and until late afternoon in Gangwon Yeongdong, southern inland areas, and the eastern coast of Gyeongbuk as the low pressure system moves out.

So far, there have been no casualties due to the monsoon rain, but damage has occurred such as road slope collapse in Sancheong, Gyeongnam, and flooding of houses and livestock barns in Jeonbuk. Access to 371 trails in 13 national parks nationwide is restricted. Due to this rain, the daytime high temperature will remain around 25-26 degrees Celsius, so there will be no severe heat until tomorrow. On the day after the rain stops, the 15th, the daytime high temperature will rise to 30 degrees Celsius, bringing back the heat.
