140mm Heavy Rain Over Two Days Causes Landslide on Some Roads

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Heavy rain exceeding 140mm has poured in the Sancheong area of Gyeongnam, where a heavy rain advisory was issued, causing landslides and other rain damage in some areas.
According to Gyeongnam Province and the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, around 2:20 a.m. on the 13th, the slope of National Support Local Road No. 60 near Donguibogam Village in Geumseo-myeon, Sancheong-gun, was washed away.
With soil measuring 30m in height and 100m in length washed out, the two-lane road was blocked. Two nearby residents evacuated, and no casualties occurred. The area recorded 140.8mm of rainfall over two days.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, heavy rain will continue in Gyeongnam until night. Heavy rain and high wave advisories have been issued.
The expected rainfall is 50 to 100mm, with more than 150mm of heavy rain forecast along the southern coast. A preliminary strong wind advisory is expected to be issued in the afternoon for five cities and counties including Namhae, Goseong, Geoje, Sacheon, and Tongyeong, as well as the eastern sea area of Namhae.
The lowest temperature in the Gyeongnam area is forecast to be between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius, and the highest temperature between 22 and 25 degrees Celsius.
