The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that 11,486 people paid their respects at the citizen memorial altar in front of City Hall by 1 p.m. on the 12th. This number includes 3,336 visitors from the previous day.
The city has been receiving general citizens paying tribute to the deceased at the memorial altar in front of City Hall since 11 a.m. the previous day. The altar operates from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will remain open until the night of the 13th.
The city explained that the memorial altar was modestly prepared reflecting the opinions of the deceased and the bereaved family, and that wreaths and condolence flags (jo-gi) are not accepted separately. The altar measures 9 meters wide and 3 meters long, decorated with 9,500 flowers.
To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), visitors must wear masks, maintain sufficient distance from other visitors according to staff guidance, and can enter only after temperature checks and hand sanitization. Police and public safety officers have been deployed around the altar to ensure citizens' safety and maintain order.

At the funeral hall of Seoul National University Hospital where Mayor Park's body is laid, only acquaintances and family members are allowed to pay their respects. As of noon on the same day, 7,013 people had visited to offer condolences.
