[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Lotte Duty Free is accelerating digital innovation in talent recruitment.
Lotte Duty Free introduced an untact (non-face-to-face) interview method using an online video system for the new employee recruitment interviews held over two days on the 8th and 9th. This measure was taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and minimize infection risks for applicants, expanding on the untact interview method first implemented in the mid-year recruitment interviews conducted at the end of June. Lotte Duty Free plans to actively participate in social distancing by adopting untact interviews for experienced and contract employee recruitment in the future.
All interviews for this year’s regular recruitment at Lotte Duty Free, including competency interviews, presentation (PT) interviews, and executive interviews, were conducted via video, and successful candidates will join as new employees in August.
Lotte Duty Free is accelerating digital innovation not only in recruitment methods but also in talent acquisition.
At the end of June, Lotte Duty Free conducted the first-ever rolling recruitment among Lotte affiliates to secure DT (Digital Transformation) and IT experts. This strategy aims to flexibly secure “customized top talent” through year-round recruitment, reflecting a personnel policy focused on quickly acquiring DT and IT professionals to strengthen digital innovation capabilities. Interns scheduled to join in mid-month will undergo an 8-week internship to be evaluated on job expertise, organizational fit, and practical skills, and after a conversion interview, they are expected to be hired as new employees in the regular recruitment next year.

This rolling recruitment of DT and IT talent by Lotte Duty Free also serves as a foundation for the Lotte “Data Council” launched in May. The Lotte Data Council is an organization established to integrate and utilize data across affiliates, and Lotte Duty Free is the first affiliate to conduct rolling recruitment for related positions since the council’s launch. In fact, during the recent rolling recruitment interviews at Lotte Duty Free, one interviewer each from Lotte Department Store and Lotte e-commerce participated as interviewers for the same positions. Lotte Duty Free plans to expand rolling recruitment in DT and IT-related roles, including data analysis, IT planning, digital transformation, and e-commerce.
