Gwangju University Conducts Admission Consultations via 'Video Chat' for Early Admission Applicants
Considering the COVID-19 Situation in the Region
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju University (President Kim Hyukjong) announced on the 8th that it will conduct one-on-one admission consultations for applicants preparing for the early admission process through non-face-to-face video chat, which has been held annually.
Through this early admission consultation, Gwangju University plans to provide customized information about the university admission process, introduce departments, and guide detailed information on scholarships and welfare benefits necessary for applicants.
The non-face-to-face video chat admission consultation at Gwangju University will continue until September 28, the deadline for early admission applications.
It is available through the ‘Apply for Admission Consultation’ section on the Gwangju University website, where applicants can select their preferred date for consultation. If applicants do not wish to use the video method, consultations via KakaoPlus, KakaoVoiceTalk, and chat are also available.
Considering the COVID-19 situation, Gwangju University also plans to provide detailed admission information to applicants in real-time through phone, the admissions office website, and SNS.
Kim Sangyeop, Director of Admissions at Gwangju University, said, “In the situation where the spread of COVID-19 is still accelerating, we have prepared a video chat admission consultation service to help applicants facing difficulties with admissions,” adding, “We will assist applicants in preparing their admission strategies through customized consultations they desire.”
Meanwhile, Gwangju University will select 1,724 students (99%) out of 1,742 new students for the 2021 academic year (1,652 within quota and 90 outside quota) through early admission.
The early admission process is conducted through three tracks: general student selection, regional student selection, and selection for recipients of basic livelihood security, lower-income families, and single-parent families. All tracks recruit students based on school records.

Applications can be submitted through the Gwangju University website from September 23 to 28.
