'Corona Jangbaljang' Steals Eggs from Hunger... Lost Job and Starved for Ten Days
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] A man who lost his job and starved due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and stole eggs has been caught by the police after a week.
The Suwon Jungbu Police Station announced on the 1st that a man in his 40s, Mr. A, was booked without detention on charges including theft.
Mr. A is accused of stealing 18 roasted eggs, which were sold for 300 won each at a goshiwon.
According to the police investigation, Mr. A committed the crime after losing his daily labor job due to COVID-19 and starving for ten days.
The prosecution reportedly demanded a prison sentence of 1 year and 6 months for Mr. A.
