Opening of Saewoo-gae Hana Public Daycare Center with Capacity of 74 Children and Total Floor Area of 591㎡... Total Project Cost of 3.6 Billion KRW Including 900 Million KRW from Private Capital, Featuring 5 Childcare Rooms and Reading Spaces... Goal to Expand 77 Public Daycare Centers by 2022 under the 7th Elected Administration
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) opened the district-run Saewoo-gae Hana Daycare Center (17, Yongmasan-ro 139da-gil) in Saewoo-gae Village, Sinnae-dong, on the 1st.
Saewoo-gae Village in Sinnae-dong is a densely populated residential area where many residents have expressed inconvenience due to a lack of childcare facilities such as daycare centers despite the steadily increasing number of infants and toddlers.
Accordingly, the district signed a joint agreement in 2018 with Hana Financial Group and the Puruni Childcare Foundation, receiving 900 million KRW from Hana Financial Group and investing a total project cost of 3.6 billion KRW to newly construct the Saewoo-gae Hana Daycare Center.
The Saewoo-gae Hana Daycare Center has a total floor area of 591.28㎡ and is a three-story building above ground, equipped with five childcare rooms, a playroom, a reading space, and a rooftop playground, providing various facilities for 74 children.
Attention was also paid to children's safety through the use of eco-friendly materials, rounded corners, and anti-finger-pinch construction.
With the construction of the new Saewoo-gae Hana Daycare Center, it is expected that not only will the childcare environment improve, but the influx of younger generations will increase, adding vitality to the area.
Additionally, to prevent COVID-19 infections, the district has supported local daycare centers with approximately 400 million KRW for purchasing masks, thermometers, hand sanitizers, and disinfection supplies, as well as subsidies, ensuring compliance with quarantine guidelines such as fever checks, placement of hand sanitizers, and maintaining visitor logs.
Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “We will continuously expand public daycare centers to build a public childcare infrastructure where parents can entrust their children with peace of mind,” adding, “We will create an optimal environment for childbirth and childcare, making Jungnang a great place to have and raise children.”
This year, the district plans to expand a total of eight public daycare centers, including the new Saewoo-gae Hana Daycare Center, through new constructions and conversions of private daycare centers.
