Japan Extends Entry Ban for One Month on Korea and Others Over 'COVID-19 Response'... Adds 18 More Countries to List
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] The Japanese government has decided to extend the entry restrictions imposed on various countries to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) for one more month until the end of July.
According to the COVID-19 related measures posted by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 30th, the suspension of visa issuance and the re-suspension of visa exemption for short-term visitors, which were scheduled to be implemented until the end of this month, will be extended until the end of next month. Accordingly, the suspension of the '90-day visa exemption' for Koreans will continue, effectively maintaining the entry ban on foreigners attempting to enter Japan from Korea.
Additionally, the measure to reduce the number of arriving passengers by cutting flights with foreign countries will also be extended until the end of next month. Furthermore, the Japanese government has decided to add nationals from 18 countries, including Algeria, Cuba, Iraq, and Lebanon, to the list of entry bans starting from the 1st of next month.
