Nowon-gu Yeongchuksan Circular Trail Online Walking Event
After Installing the Smartphone App WalkOn, Participate in the Official Community 'Walking City Nowon'... 150 Chicken Salad Coupons Awarded by Lottery to Completion Certifiers
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) is hosting an online walking event that residents can participate in while maintaining social distancing in daily life, to help those whose physical activity has decreased due to the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The online walking event, conducted using the smartphone mobile app ‘WalkOn,’ will be held on the Yeongchuksan Circular Trail course until July 10.
The walking section covers the entire wooden deck trail of the Yeongchuksan Circular Trail, which opened in January. It is a 3.7 km round-trip route starting from the entrance near Gwangmyeong Church by Lotte Castle Luna Apartments along the Uicheon Stream in Wolgye-dong, passing through the Yeongchuksan Observatory, and continuing to the Children's Forest Experience Center. Participants can complete the course regardless of direction.
Residents who wish to participate can install the WalkOn app on their smartphones and register on Nowon-gu’s official community ‘Walking City Nowon.’ In the app, go to the Challenge tab (trophy icon) at the bottom, find the ‘Nowon-gu Challenge’ online walking event, and press ‘Join.’
Participation is verified automatically using location-based services (GPS) on the WalkOn mobile app, and completion is certified by passing through the entire course.
After the online walking event ends, 150 participants who complete the course will be selected by lottery to receive a Lost Chicken Salad mobile coupon.
The district will station four walking activists wearing Healthy City Nowon vests at the start and finish points of the online walk to assist with WalkOn app installation and provide walking-related information.
The Yeongchuksan Circular Trail walking course features a gentle wooden deck path with a slope of less than 8% and a width of over 2 meters. Safety railings are installed, making it accessible not only to people with disabilities and other mobility-impaired individuals but also to people of all ages and genders, allowing anyone to enjoy contemplative walks and healing along the forest path. Additionally, the observatory offers panoramic views of Nowon, including Suraksan and Bulamsan Mountains.
This online walking event is characterized by the slogan “Overcome COVID-19!! Apart, yet together,” allowing anyone to participate without time restrictions or limits on the number of participants during the event period.
The district previously held two online walking events on the Gyeongchun Line Forest Trail in January and May, which received positive responses with 1,180 residents participating.
