Suncheon-si Implements Waste Management Measures for Summer Vacation Spots
Promotion of Taking Back Trash and Intensive Crackdown on Illegal Dumping 추진
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) has prepared a 'Summer Vacation Spot Waste Management Plan' to create a clean vacation environment for the upcoming summer holiday season and will implement it targeting major vacation spots within the city until September 6.
By July 5, the city will expand dedicated personnel for waste collection and disposal at major vacation spots, install banners, and place recycling bins and food waste collection containers to conduct a preliminary inspection of waste management conditions.
From July 6 to August 31, when vacationers are concentrated, a collection team will operate for rapid waste collection, and the eup, myeon, and dong offices plan to conduct public-private cooperative cleanups at least once a week with the cooperation of local self-governing organizations and related parties.
The city will strengthen patrols in habitual illegal dumping areas and during vulnerable nighttime hours. Illegal waste dumpers will be fined up to 1 million won, and to improve citizens' awareness, proper waste disposal methods will be promoted through neighborhood meetings, village broadcasts, and banner postings.
