49 Domestic Artificial Tear Products Pass Sterility Test 'Suitable'
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 29th that 49 artificial tear products distributed domestically are not contaminated with microorganisms.
According to the National Petition Safety Inspection System, the Ministry conducted sterility tests from September to November last year on artificial tears that received the most recommendations regarding bacterial contamination. The tests were conducted on 43 products manufactured by domestic companies and 6 imported products, all of which were deemed suitable, the Ministry reported.

Additionally, 215 websites selling artificial tears through overseas direct purchase were identified during an online site inspection. The sale of pharmaceuticals such as artificial tears is prohibited online. The Ministry requested blocking measures from the Korea Communications Standards Commission and the respective internet shopping malls.
