The New Santa Fe Launches on the 1st of Next Month... Online Launch Event at the End of This Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Hyundai Motor Company will unveil the facelifted model of the Santa Fe, called 'The New Santa Fe,' at the end of this month.
According to Hyundai on the 26th, the online launch event for The New Santa Fe will begin at 12 PM on the 30th. During the event, detailed design and specifications of The New Santa Fe will be revealed, and official sales are expected to start from the 1st of next month. It is known that there will be no separate pre-orders.
The New Santa Fe is a facelifted model of the 4th generation Santa Fe, which was launched in February 2018. Although it is a facelift, the application of 'Sensuous Sportiness' has brought about changes comparable to a new car.
The New Santa Fe inherits the sophisticated image of the existing Santa Fe while transforming into a luxurious and substantial mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV). The front features an integrated grille and sharp headlamps. The split headlamps, divided into upper and lower sections, harmonize with the wide horizontal grille, and the T-shaped daytime running lights (DRL) create a strong impression.
The New Santa Fe is equipped with the same engine as the new Sorento. To enhance driving performance, Hyundai excluded the 2.0 diesel and installed a 2.2 diesel engine, while upgrading the 2.0 gasoline turbo to a 2.5 gasoline turbo.

With the launch of The New Santa Fe, competition with the new Sorento has become inevitable. Since the 3rd generation model appeared in 2012, the Santa Fe held the number one position in the mid-size SUV segment until 2015. This year, the new Sorento has recorded strong sales, with 9,270 units in April and 9,297 units in May. As of the cumulative sales in May, the Sorento sold 26,270 units, surpassing the Santa Fe's 21,203 units. However, once The New Santa Fe goes on sale from July, fierce competition is expected to unfold.
