Q1 Construction Contract Amount 57.2 Trillion Won... 0.7% Decrease YoY
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] The construction contract amount in the first quarter of this year recorded 57.2 trillion KRW, a 0.7% decrease compared to the same period last year.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 25th that this figure was compiled and analyzed based on the construction contract amounts reported to the Construction Industry Comprehensive Information Network (KISCON).
The public construction contract amount increased in both civil engineering and building sectors, rising 3.3% year-on-year to 18.7 trillion KRW. The private sector recorded 38.5 trillion KRW, a 2.5% decrease due to the impact of large-scale private investment projects in the previous year.
By construction type, the civil engineering contract amount decreased by 23.2% year-on-year to 18.1 trillion KRW, while the building sector, including commercial buildings and factories/workshops, increased by 14.8% year-on-year to 39.2 trillion KRW.
The top 1 to 50 companies recorded 18.6 trillion KRW, a 26.7% decrease compared to the previous year, but companies ranked 51 to 100 (4.5 trillion KRW, 66.2% increase) and 101 to 300 (5.4 trillion KRW, 7% increase) saw an increase in contract amounts.
By region, the Seoul metropolitan area recorded 25.1 trillion KRW, a 17.5% decrease year-on-year, whereas non-metropolitan areas recorded 32.2 trillion KRW, an 18.1% increase.
