View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] CJ Group recently announced on the 25th that 2,000 employees participated in the nationwide ‘Hands-On’ volunteer activity to support underprivileged children.
CJ employees used ‘semi-finished DIY kits’ to make 500 cotton masks for children, 500 books for infants and toddlers, 500 cotton sanitary pads for low-income and single teenage mothers, and 500 braille books for visually impaired children. These hygiene products and children’s books will be delivered to study rooms and single mother facilities nationwide through social welfare organizations early next month.
The Hands-On program is a participatory social contribution activity where volunteers create and deliver donated items, embodying the meaning of ‘putting sincerity into both hands.’
The kits used in the volunteer activity were purchased through various social welfare organizations so that the funds could be used to support living and medical expenses for underprivileged groups.
The volunteer activity was fully booked within an hour of the internal announcement, reflecting the high interest of employees. One participating employee said, “It is difficult to participate in external volunteer activities these days, but it was meaningful to contribute warm hearts in an ‘untact sharing’ form even from home,” adding, “I feel proud thinking that the cotton masks I made will help children’s hygiene management even a little.”
