Gwangyang City Prepares Environment Maintenance for Baegunsan's Four Major Valleys Ahead of Vacation Season
Focused Implementation in Environmentally Vulnerable Areas Such as Multi-use Facilities and Public Restrooms
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Gwangyang City announced on the 24th that it will promote environmental maintenance of valleys, tourist sites, and vulnerable areas to ensure a pleasant and clean environment for enjoyable summer vacations.
On the 3rd, a large-scale cleanup will be conducted with the participation of about 2,000 people including public officials, related organizations, and citizens, focusing on the four major valleys of Baegunsan Mountain, major roadsides, vacant urban lots, and multi-use facilities, which are environmentally vulnerable areas.
In addition, through a thorough cleaning and focused management of 183 public restrooms in the region, the city plans to provide a pleasant living environment for vacationers and citizens visiting the area.
Furthermore, to ensure the rapid collection of household waste, 80 automatic loading containers will be installed, a valley waste collection cleaning operation team (4 vehicles, 12 sanitation workers) will be organized and operated, and an emergency contact system for handling living complaints will be maintained.

Kim Jae-hee, Director of the Environment Division, said, “We will focus on environmental maintenance of the four major valleys and vulnerable areas so that both citizens and vacationers can enjoy a pleasant vacation season,” adding, “We ask citizens to obligatorily use designated garbage bags and keep their front yards and surrounding alleys clean to create a pleasant and clean Gwangyang City together.”
