KOSPI Gains Over 1.6% on Institutional Buying Pressure
[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The KOSPI is showing strength amid institutional buying.
As of 2:46 PM on the 24th, the KOSPI stood at 2166.04, up 1.63% (34.80 points) from the previous session. The KOSPI opened at 2145.93 today and has maintained a rise of over 1%.
Currently, individuals and foreigners sold stocks worth 26.9 billion KRW and 122.2 billion KRW respectively. Meanwhile, institutions purchased stocks worth 110.8 billion KRW.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics traded at 53,300 KRW, up 3.70% from the previous session. SK Hynix (2.85%), Samsung Biologics (2.12%), Naver (0.36%), Celltrion (0.31%), and LG Chem (2.58%) also maintained upward momentum.
The KOSDAQ index at the same time was at 759.06, up 0.86% (6.47 points) from the previous session. After opening at 758.15, the KOSDAQ index rose to 761.70 during the session, marking a 1.12% increase.
In the KOSDAQ market, individuals and foreigners bought stocks worth 20.9 billion KRW and 50.3 billion KRW respectively, while institutions sold stocks worth 64.5 billion KRW.

Among the top market capitalization stocks, Celltrion Healthcare (-0.35%), Celltrion Pharm (-1.58%), and Alteogen (-9.64%) were on the decline. On the other hand, HL Biopharma (0.29%), Seegene (2.73%), Pearl Abyss (0.41%), and KMW (3.81%) showed gains.
