Yoon Seok-yeol Midterm Evaluation... 'Doing Well' 45.5% vs 'Doing Poorly' 45.6%
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] A public opinion poll revealed that positive and negative evaluations of Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's job performance are nearly equal.
Realmeter announced on the 24th that, according to a mid-term evaluation survey of Prosecutor General Yoon's job performance commissioned by 'OhmyNews' on the 23rd, 45.5% responded "doing well," while 45.6% responded "doing poorly." "Don't know" accounted for 8.9%.
Previously, in a public opinion poll conducted in June last year regarding Yoon's nomination, 49.9% responded positively and 35.6% negatively.
In particular, evaluations of Prosecutor General Yoon sharply divided according to political party support. Among supporters of the Democratic Party of Korea (doing well 17.8% vs. doing poorly 72.0%), negative evaluations were overwhelmingly high, whereas among supporters of the United Future Party (83.9% vs. 9.2%), the opposite was true. Among the non-affiliated group (65.0% vs. 21.8%), more respondents said he was doing well.
By ideological inclination, the progressive group (doing well 24.9% vs. doing poorly 62.9%) mostly gave negative evaluations, while the conservative group (57.7% vs. 34.4%) and the moderate group (52.8% vs. 43.0%) mostly gave positive evaluations.
By age group, those aged 70 and above (doing well 62.4% vs. doing poorly 32.9%) and those in their 60s (56.4% vs. 30.8%) mostly responded that he was doing well. In contrast, those in their 40s (24.6% vs. 68.2%) mostly responded that he was doing poorly. In their 20s (45.0% vs. 42.2%), 30s (46.0% vs. 46.1%), and 50s (46.9% vs. 45.7%), opinions were evenly split.
By region, more respondents in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (doing well 61.4% vs. doing poorly 30.9%) and Seoul (50.9% vs. 38.8%) said he was doing well, while in Gwangju and Jeolla (22.1% vs. 59.8%), more said he was doing poorly. In Daejeon, Sejong, Chungcheong, and Daegu, Gyeongbuk, responses were evenly divided between doing well and doing poorly.

This survey contacted 9,744 adults aged 18 and over nationwide, with a final 500 respondents completing the survey, recording a response rate of 5.2%. The sampling error is ±4.4 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
