Samyang Foods Buldak Character ‘Hochi’ Available in Various Goods
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] Samyang Foods has strengthened its Buldak brand by launching various products using the character ‘Hochi’.
Samyang Foods announced on the 24th that it recently released Hochi emoticons for the LINE messenger in South Korea and Japan.
The Hochi emoticons for LINE messenger were created using the Hochi character to express 40 frequently used expressions in the messenger. The various gestures and facial expressions of Hochi vividly convey the intended messages, and they are available for purchase on the LINE Store.
Along with this, Samyang Foods is selling Buldak character goods on its online shopping mall, Samyang Mat Shop. The products for sale include four stationery items developed in collaboration with Artbox (Haeck Buldak Bokkeum Myun notebook, Buldak Bokkeum Myun note, Haeck Buldak Bokkeum Myun and Buldak Bokkeum Myun erasers), ‘2080 Hochi Toothpaste’ in collaboration with Aekyung Industry’s 2080 brand, and a Hochi figure ‘Rakung’ that can be used as a cup noodle lid holder, totaling six items. All products are sold at a 10% discounted price.
This is the first time Hochi goods are being sold on Samyang Mat Shop, and Samyang Foods plans to expand the range of products sold in the future.
A representative from Samyang Foods said, “We want to provide fresh enjoyment to consumers with Hochi goods and approach them as a friendly brand,” adding, “In the future, we plan to expand Hochi’s use into content fields such as games.”

Samyang Foods applied the ‘Hochi’ character to its Buldak brand products in 2014 and has been actively pursuing collaborations with other industries based on this. They have introduced ‘Burning Edition’ with Tony Moly, ‘Medi Hot Pack’ as a winter season limited product with LG Household & Health Care, and ‘Buldak Mask’ with SG Safety.
