Samsung Electronics Unveils 5G Network Optimization Solution Using Drones and AI
Drone Captures Base Station and Antenna Installation Status... AI Analyzes Optimal Angles
Reduces Worker Safety Concerns and Measurement Errors
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Samsung Electronics unveiled a solution on the 23rd that optimizes 5G network performance by analyzing the installation status of base stations and antennas using drones and artificial intelligence (AI).
Samsung Electronics demonstrated the solution utilizing drones and AI at Suwon Digital City, where 5G base stations and antennas are installed. The newly unveiled solution captures the installation status of base stations and antenna systems using drones, transmits the data to a server, and then uses AI to analyze whether the base stations and antennas are maintained at optimal angles, sending real-time updates to field workers.
The installation angle of base stations and antennas is a key factor in determining service coverage and minimizing interference with adjacent cells, thereby providing seamless ultra-high-speed mobile communication services. Previously, multiple engineers had to visit each station individually, using heavy measurement equipment to take direct measurements, which was costly and time-consuming, with potential for measurement errors.
The solution unveiled by Samsung Electronics measures the installation angles of base stations and antennas using drones, allowing easy inspection of equipment installed in high places such as buildings without safety concerns for workers. Close-up shots of the equipment are possible, minimizing measurement errors.
