The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that at 3:09 PM on that day, the highest temperature recorded at the official observation point in Songwol-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul was 35.4 degrees Celsius. This is the highest temperature since the all-time June record of 37.2 degrees Celsius in 1958.
This temperature ranks as the fifth highest on record. The days with the highest temperatures in late June in Seoul were June 24, 1958, followed by June 25 (35.6 degrees Celsius) and June 30, 1920 (35.6 degrees Celsius), and June 25, 1929 (35.5 degrees Celsius).
Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, also recorded a daytime temperature of 36.4 degrees Celsius, marking the highest temperature since meteorological observations began. According to unofficial records, the temperature in Seorak-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province, rose to 38.3 degrees Celsius on the same day.

The heat will continue until the 23rd (tomorrow). The daytime high temperatures are forecasted to range from 24 to 34 degrees Celsius. Most inland areas nationwide will experience temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius, resulting in hot weather.
