Jeonnam Fire Department, All-Out Effort to Prevent Water Play Safety Accidents in Summer
161 Members of the '119 Water Rescue Team' Deployed at 41 Beaches and Valleys in the Province
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Fire Department is operating the ‘119 Water Rescue Team’ to prevent water play safety accidents during the summer season.
According to the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) on the 22nd, the 119 Water Rescue Team is deployed with 161 personnel daily at 41 beaches, rivers, and valleys across the province and will operate until the end of August.
In response to COVID-19, joint countermeasures have been established with local governments to guide compliance with social distancing guidelines in daily life and to implement water play safety accident measures through thorough quarantine management.
The rescue team is composed of certified water rescue personnel, volunteer firefighters, and volunteers.
They will collaborate with firefighters on site to handle life rescue, water safety promotion, safety guidance, and water play safety education.
Last year, they effectively fulfilled their role by rescuing 6 people and carrying out 789 safety measures.
