[Photo] Nowon-gu, Seoul Women's University, and Seoul Northern Hana Center Sign Localized Literacy Class Business Agreement
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) held a "Signing Ceremony for a Regional Specialized Literacy Class for North Korean Defectors" with Seoul Women’s University and the Seoul Northern Hana Center at the mayor’s office at 10 a.m. on the 22nd.
The signing ceremony was arranged to support the settlement and cultural adaptation of North Korean defector parents and youth in the community through the operation of life literacy education tailored to North Korean defectors, reflecting the characteristics of our district, through cooperation among the district, the university, and related organizations.
The event was attended by about 10 people including Mayor Oh Seung-rok of Nowon-gu, Jeon Hye-jung, President of Seoul Women’s University, Noh Yoo-hwan, Director of the Seoul Northern Hana Center, and other officials, and proceeded with a meeting, signing and exchanging of the agreement, and commemorative photo session.
The main contents include that Nowon-gu will oversee the project and provide operational support for the specialized project targeting North Korean defectors; Seoul Women’s University will plan and operate the curriculum, execute and settle the budget, and issue certificates of completion; and the Seoul Northern Hana Center will cooperate in recruiting students and linking publicity for North Korean defectors.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok of Nowon-gu said, “We signed a business agreement with Seoul Women’s University and the Seoul Northern Hana Center to help North Korean defectors adapt to an unfamiliar environment and settle down,” adding, “We will continue to do our best through various policies so that North Korean defectors can live healthily as members of our society.”
