At the final regional tour stop at Jeonbuk Provincial Office, Chairman Lee stated, "The regional meeting of the COVID-19 National Crisis Overcoming Committee was organized to discuss overcoming the COVID-19 crisis and regional projects linked to the Korean New Deal."
He added, "Recently, COVID-19 has been spreading nationwide," and urged, "The number of confirmed cases relative to the population is increasing in Honam, where the rate had been low, so I hope everyone tightens quarantine measures once again."
The meeting was attended by about 30 people, including Chairman Lee, Song Ha-jin, Governor of Jeonbuk Province, the governors of three Honam region provinces, Kim Jin-pyo, Head of the Emergency Economic Countermeasures Headquarters, Ahn Ho-young, Chairman of the Jeonbuk Provincial Party, Song Gap-seok, Chairman of the Gwangju City Party, Seo Sam-seok, Chairman of the Jeonnam Provincial Party, and members of the National Assembly from the Honam region.
The Jeonbuk New Deal-related regional projects discussed that day included ▲ Establishing a performance evaluation base for Saemangeum renewable energy parts and materials ▲ Creating a national comprehensive demonstration research complex for renewable energy ▲ Developing a specialized complex for energy materials, parts, and equipment ▲ Forming a green hydrogen production cluster ▲ Establishing an eco-friendly global big data cluster ▲ Developing a smart livestock non-face-to-face service platform project.
Governor Song Ha-jin responded, "I think this is Chairman Lee Nak-yeon's 19th visit to Jeonbuk since becoming Prime Minister," and requested, "Please process the establishment of a public medical school, which was announced in 2018 through party-government consultations to utilize the medical school quota generated by the closure of Namwon Seonam University, as the Democratic Party's first bill."
