Relieve Your Mind and Body Exhausted by COVID-19 with Intangible Cultural Heritage Performances
National Intangible Heritage Center, 'Branches of Traditional Performing Arts' Every Saturday Next Month
An intangible cultural heritage performance to comfort the people weary from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) will be held. The National Intangible Heritage Center will present ‘Branches of Traditional Performing Arts’ every Saturday (April 4, 11, and 18) at 4 p.m. next month. The program is designed to inspire hope in life through intangible heritage performing arts accompanied by professional commentary.
The theme of the stage on April 4 is “Mother.” It tells the lives of women from eight provinces through Gyeonggi sori, Seodo sori, Namdo Nongyo and Minyo, Jeju Minyo, and other heartfelt and poignant songs. It sings of the will and hope of life in the voice of a mother who is wise, loving, strong, and resilient. On the 11th, the sound of men’s drums will be presented, including Seungmu, Mundungbuk dance, Jindo drum play, Tongbuk play, Sogo dance, and Seoljanggu. The majestic sounds of sori drums, samul drums, janggu, and sogo convey the spirit of excitement. On the 18th, sanjo and gut music will provide rest and comfort. The subtle tones flowing from the gayageum, geomungo, haegeum, and ajaeng breathe positive energy into the mind and spirit.
