Gyeonggi-do Provides Up to 300,000 KRW for School Uniforms to New Students at Alternative Education Institutions
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province and its 31 cities and counties will provide free school uniforms to new students of alternative education institutions equivalent to high school courses both inside and outside the province.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 22nd that, following last year’s initiative as the first metropolitan local government to support school uniform costs for new students of alternative education institutions equivalent to middle school courses and new middle school students from other cities and provinces, it will expand the target group in its second year this year.
This year’s support targets new students enrolled in alternative education institutions who are registered residents of Gyeonggi Province and receiving education equivalent to the first grade of middle or high school. It also includes new middle school students from other cities and provinces who have not received school uniform support. The province expects about 2,180 beneficiaries.
The support amount is up to 300,000 KRW per person. Parents or guardians can apply at city or county community centers with necessary documents such as school uniform purchase receipts and enrollment certificates to receive cash support for school uniform purchases.
The total budget required for the project is 654 million KRW, with the province and cities/counties each bearing 50% of the cost.
