EU Parliament Condemns China's Enforcement of Hong Kong Security Law, Calls for ICJ Lawsuit and Sanctions
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] The European Union (EU) Parliament has passed a resolution condemning China's forced enactment of the "Hong Kong National Security Law (Hong Kong Security Law)" and urging the International Court of Justice (ICJ) lawsuit and sanctions.
According to AFP and others on the 20th (local time), the European Parliament adopted the condemnation resolution the day before with 565 votes in favor, 34 against, and 62 abstentions.

The European Parliament stated, "If the Hong Kong Security Law is applied, it requests that the EU and its member states consider filing a lawsuit with the ICJ," and added, "Furthermore, the EU should use economic leverage to oppose China's human rights violations through economic means."
