Switzerland Eases and Lifts COVID Lockdown Measures... Allows Gatherings Under 1000 People Next Week
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Swiss authorities have decided to allow events with fewer than 1,000 people starting next week. Lockdown measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) are mostly being eased or lifted.
According to Swissinfo on the 19th (local time), Federal President Simonetta Sommaruga and Health Minister Alain Berset announced this at a press conference held that day.
Under this measure, the previously recommended "social distance" has been reduced from 2 meters to 1.5 meters. Also, unlike the current allowance of gatherings with fewer than 300 people, gatherings with up to 1,000 people will be permitted starting next week.

However, Swiss authorities repeatedly emphasized social distancing to citizens. They instructed to comply with the new social distancing standard (1.5 meters), and if it is not possible to maintain this distance, masks must be worn. Additionally, gatherings exceeding 1,000 people will remain prohibited until August.
