Mujubanbitbul Festival to Receive Government Financial Support.
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Go Dallyeong] The Muju Firefly Festival has been selected as a recipient of the 2020 Festival Competitiveness Enhancement Project autonomous task support by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, receiving a project fund of 70 million KRW.
The 2020 Festival Competitiveness Enhancement Project autonomous task support competition targeted 13 cultural tourism festivals whose direct financial support had ended, conducted across two categories: △ Festival Tourism Product Development and △ Festival Tourism Reception Improvement. The Muju Firefly Festival was finally selected in the Festival Tourism Reception Improvement category.
The Festival Tourism Reception Improvement category evaluates the degree of effect created by improving services, infrastructure, manpower preparation status and level, attitudes, and approaches aimed at enhancing convenience and satisfaction for festival customers.
Muju County emphasized its domestic and international promotion plans using SNS and terrestrial media (TV, radio, cable TV) such as Instagram, YouTube, blogs, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Sina Weibo, and WeChat under the theme of ‘Marketing Strategy Using SNS and Smart Tourism Platform Development,’ drawing attention.
Additionally, it received favorable reviews for proposing the establishment and utilization of a smart tourism app that enables real-time sharing of various tourism information including festival programs, nearby tourist attractions, popular restaurants, and accommodations, as well as participation in coupons and events using reservations, payments, and QR codes.
Kim Dongpil, head of the Culture and Tourism Division at Muju County Office, stated, “Having gained momentum to promote tourism marketing strategies aligned with the times, we will continuously integrate and utilize related programs in the festival so that the Firefly Festival can demonstrate its true value as an honorary cultural tourism festival.”
He also added, “We expect that the promotion of this competitive project will greatly influence not only the success of the Muju Firefly Festival but also the enhancement of Muju’s tourism appeal, expansion of foreign tourist attraction, and revitalization of regional tourism.”
