'Rhyme Jeonju Kim Bong-hyun' Star Mobility CEO Who Linked to Political Circles Appears for Arrest Warrant Hearing
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Lee, former president of Gwangju MBC and current CEO of Star Mobility, who is suspected of connecting Kim Bong-hyun, chairman of Star Mobility known as the 'Jeonju of Lime,' to political circles, appeared in court on the 19th for a detention warrant hearing.
Park Won-kyu, the chief judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Southern District Court, will conduct Lee's pre-detention suspect interrogation (warrant substantive examination) starting at 10:30 a.m. that day.
Arriving at the court around 9:52 a.m., Lee did not respond to reporters' questions such as "Do you admit to embezzlement or evidence tampering?" and "Have you ever delivered cash to politicians?"
Earlier, Lee, who is suspected of connecting Chairman Kim to political circles and embezzling Star Mobility funds, was abruptly arrested on the morning of the 17th.
The prosecution has not disclosed the specific criminal charges against Lee.
The decision on whether to issue Lee's detention warrant is expected to be made late in the afternoon.
While working at Gwangju MBC, Lee was acquainted with Chairman Kim and introduced him to Democratic Party lawmaker A. Chairman Kim is suspected of giving high-end suits and tens of millions of won to lawmaker A.
Last year, while serving as CEO of Star Mobility, Lee met with a senior Blue House official and ruling party lawmaker B to request assistance in managing the Lime scandal.
However, after an embezzlement case involving 51.7 billion won occurred at the company in March, Lee filed a complaint against Chairman Kim, and Kim's side also filed a counter-complaint against Lee on the same charges.
