Gyeonggi Economic Science Institute Promotes Medical Device Development Project
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is recruiting local companies to participate in this year's medical device industry promotion support project.
The Gyeonggi Economic Science Institute announced on the 19th that it will recruit 33 companies by the 10th of next month to participate in the '2020 Gyeonggi Province Medical Device Industry Promotion Support' project, which comprehensively supports all stages of advanced technology, prototype development, preclinical trials, usability evaluation, and regulatory test analysis to strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium-sized medical device manufacturers in the province and promote the localization of medical devices.
The support target is small and medium-sized enterprises under the 'Framework Act on Small and Medium Enterprises' (Article 2), with at least one of the headquarters, research institute, or manufacturing facilities located in Gyeonggi Province.
Selected companies will carry out research and development projects in each support field until March next year. The support fund ranges from a minimum of 15 million KRW to a maximum of 63 million KRW.
Companies wishing to participate can download the application form from the Gyeonggi Province website (www.gg.go.kr) or EasyBiz (www.egbiz.or.kr), then submit the application form, business plan, and other required documents via email (uphong85@gbsa.or.kr).

A representative from the Gyeonggi Economic Science Institute stated, "There are a total of 1,457 medical device manufacturers in the province, most of which are small and medium-sized enterprises. Clinical trials and regulatory test analysis are essential for product sales, so support is necessary," adding, "Through this project, we expect to strengthen the competitiveness of local medical device companies, create new markets, and promote the localization of medical devices."
