2020 Geonseol-ui Nal Commemoration Ceremony Held
[Asia Economy Reporter Inho Yoo] The Korea Federation of Construction Associations and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport held the ‘2020 Construction Day’ ceremony on the 18th under the theme ‘Hopeful Korea! Construction Opens the Way.’
The ceremony, held at 2:30 PM at the Construction Hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, was attended by about 300 people including Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun, First Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Park Seon-ho, government officials, members of the National Assembly, heads of construction organizations, heads of related institutions, CEOs and executives of major construction companies.
Chairman Kim Sang-soo stated in his commemorative speech, “COVID-19 is a turning point accelerating the progress of the 4th Industrial Revolution and will be an opportunity to create a new growth engine for the construction industry,” adding, “We will wisely overcome this crisis and make a new leap forward.”
Prime Minister Chung said, “The achievements of the construction industry so far are remarkable,” and urged, “Please strive for the advancement and safety of the construction industry in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.”
At the ceremony, Yoon Hyun-woo, CEO of Samyang Construction Co., Ltd., and Noh Seok-soon, CEO of Wonyoung Construction Co., Ltd., were awarded the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit. The Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit was awarded to Woo Cheol-sik, Executive Director of Taeyoung Construction Co., Ltd.; the Iron Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit was awarded to Kim Won-yeol, CEO of Mugeong Equipment Co., Ltd., and Hwang Geun-soon, CEO of ESI Co., Ltd.; the Stone Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit was awarded to Lee Seo-gil, CEO of Daesung Construction Industry Co., Ltd., and Kim Im-sik, CEO of Namsong General Construction Co., Ltd.

Five people, including Jeon Yong-gap, CEO of Hwallym Construction Co., Ltd., received the Industrial Medal, five people including Cho Seong-rae, CEO of DRC Chungwon Construction Co., Ltd., received the Presidential Citation, and six people including Kim Jong-rae, CEO of Geonuk General Construction Co., Ltd., received the Prime Minister’s Citation.
