With communication between the leadership of both parties completely blocked, attention is focused on whether this bipartisan forum, voluntarily created by lawmakers, will serve as a channel for 'cooperation.'
On the morning of the 16th, at the National Assembly Members' Office Building, 15 economic experts from both parties gathered to hold the first seminar of the 'Transitional Korean Economy Forum,' officially announcing its launch. The forum is led by Chu Kyung-ho of the United Future Party, with Democratic Party members Kim Min-seok and Kim Kyung-man joining. Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Byung-hoon also attended the event, drawing attention.
In his congratulatory speech, Representative Chu said, "The situation in the National Assembly is very serious, but there can be no division between ruling and opposition parties when it comes to reviving the economy," adding, "I hope this forum will gather wisdom on the direction of the Korean economy and our society and take the lead in cooperation." Representative Kim Min-seok responded, "Regardless of the situation in the National Assembly, I think it is a good thing that a space is created where both parties can study together and comfortably discuss issues in the form of a research group."
