Exchange Publishes KRP for 47 KONEX Companies in First Half of the Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Hwajeong] The Korea Exchange's Konex Research Project (KRP), which publishes corporate analysis reports for Konex-listed companies to provide effective investment information to general investors, is progressing smoothly, with 47 Konex-listed companies applying for participation in the first half of this year.
According to the Exchange on the 16th, as a result of receiving applications for KRP participation from Konex-listed companies and research institutions in the first half of the year, 47 listed companies and 13 research institutions applied, showing high interest.
Since the second half of 2015, the Exchange has been publishing corporate analysis reports on Konex companies in collaboration with securities firms and other research institutions. When a Konex-listed company applies to the Exchange, the Exchange assigns a research institution to publish the report. The related costs are fully supported by the Exchange, and reports are published once each in the first and second halves of the year to serve as a substitute for quarterly reports.
The reports provide analysis information on promising industry companies among Konex-listed companies that attract investor interest, allowing investors to obtain comprehensive information such as the company's growth potential and prospects. The analysis information includes growth and profitability measurement indicators such as whether performance has improved, persistence of excess profits, sales profit margin, and return on total assets.
An analysis of market performance for companies that participated in the KRP project last year showed that KRP-participating companies had market capitalization and year-end stock prices 14.4% and 2.3% higher, respectively, than non-participating companies. The number of trading accounts and trading volume were also 44.7% and 36.8% higher, respectively, indicating that the KRP project positively contributed to enhancing the corporate value of Konex companies and also helped activate trading.
Since the KRP project began in the second half of 2015, there have been a total of 43 cases of transfer listings from the Konex market to the KOSDAQ market, of which 26 companies, or 60%, participated in the KRP. The participation rate of transfer-listed companies in the KRP has steadily increased from an average of 55% between 2015 and 2018 to 75% last year.

The Exchange plans to publish the reports within this month and post them through various channels such as the KRX website. A representative of the Exchange said, "Providing corporate analysis reports on Konex companies is expected not only to raise interest in Konex companies but also to serve as useful investment reference materials for general investors, such as individuals, who have relatively limited access to investment information compared to institutional investors."
