Ambassador Ddu to Return Home Soon After Completing 3 Years of Service in Korea

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the afternoon of the 15th, Cho Se-young, First Vice Foreign Minister, met with Nguyen Vu Thu, Ambassador of Vietnam to Korea, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 15th. Ambassador Thu, who was appointed in early 2017, is scheduled to return to Vietnam soon after completing his service in Korea.
Vice Minister Cho expressed his gratitude for Ambassador Thu's efforts, saying, "During the three years Ambassador Thu has served, the Korea-Vietnam relationship has greatly advanced in many areas, to which Ambassador Thu has contributed significantly."
Additionally, Vice Minister Cho stated, "Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we highly appreciate the Vietnamese government's active support for the exceptional entry of our citizens returning home and essential personnel such as our businesspeople."
In response, Ambassador Thu said he is pleased to conclude nearly 40 years of diplomatic service as Ambassador to Korea and will cherish his experiences in Korea. He also stated that based on the achievements accumulated over the 27 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations in December 1992, the relationship between the two countries will further develop over the next 27 years.
Furthermore, Ambassador Thu added that in this context, it will be very important to further develop exchanges and cooperation related to education between the future generations of both countries.

Vice Minister Cho emphasized, "By overcoming COVID-19 together, the special cooperative relationship between Korea and Vietnam can be further strengthened," and suggested continuing to develop cooperation not only bilaterally with Vietnam but also at regional and multilateral levels. Ambassador Thu responded that wherever he may be in the future, he will do his utmost to support the development of Korea-Vietnam relations.
