Because of this, she earned nicknames such as the “running district council member,” “walking city council member,” and currently, a passionate on-site problem solver.
This belief is evident in initiatives like the ‘Resident Participation Work Handover Report Meeting,’ ‘Dong Work Report Meeting,’ ‘Meetings with Residents,’ and the ‘1st Anniversary Talk Concert,’ where communicating with residents on-site and finding solutions within those interactions is one of the most important principles guiding Mayor Kim Mi-kyung’s policy implementation.
Despite being extremely busy due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), Mayor Kim Mi-kyung once again rolled up her sleeves to find answers on-site. She decided to visit quarantine and social distancing sites, assess the economic crisis situation, review the progress of key priority projects, and inspect flood risk facilities in preparation for the upcoming rainy season, directly observing the sites and listening to the opinions of officials and residents.
First, on the 12th, she visited the GTX-A (Greater Seoul Metropolitan Area Express Train) extension construction site around Yeonsinnae Station, as well as local projects such as the Yeonsinnae street vendor improvement project and pedestrian walkway maintenance project, to check the progress of construction and encourage the officials involved.
The mayor urged the construction personnel to do their best to ensure a zero-accident, injury-free construction site, while instructing the accompanying staff to actively communicate with nearby businesses and residents from the residents’ perspective during the pedestrian and roadway maintenance project to enhance convenience.
A resident met on-site expressed gratitude, saying, “Thanks to this, the pedestrian walkway in front of Yeonseo Market has widened, making passage more convenient. I appreciate that you come out directly to listen to residents’ voices, and I hope you continue to listen carefully to the voices on the ground so that residents’ opinions can be reflected in the future.”
Additionally, at the end of June, she plans to visit Bulgwangcheon, which is at risk of flooding during the rainy season, to inspect flood control facilities and directly tour related projects such as the Bulgwangcheon linkage project and senior citizen rest area construction site, listening to on-site feedback while reviewing project progress.

She also urged thorough quarantine and social distancing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
